Frequently Asked Questions for BIM Implementation Course

1. What is BIM (Building Information Modeling)?

BIM is an advanced construction design technology that integrates all project information into a three-dimensional digital model. This model contains not only the geometric shapes of buildings but also rich engineering data and parametric information. The main advantages of using BIM:

    1. Design Flexibility: All elements in the model are interconnected, and when modifications are needed, related design content updates automatically.

    2. Document Production Efficiency: Quickly generate various design documents, including:

      • Floor plans and elevations
      • 3D views
      • Material lists and data reports
    3. Analysis and Optimization: The model can be imported into specialized analysis software for:
      • Clash detection
      • Cost estimation
      • Construction simulation

In simple terms, BIM is like building a virtual construction in a computer, allowing designers to fully understand and optimize projects before construction.

Frequently Asked Questions for The Construction Innovation and Technology Fund (CITF)

1.How can CITF subsidize my BIM learning? What is the funding amount?

Through the CITF funding scheme, you can:

    • Receive up to 70% course fee reimbursement
    • Get maximum HK$3,000 or 70% of the course fee per course (whichever is higher)
    • Accumulate up to HK$15,000 in training subsidies
This means you can enroll in multiple courses until reaching the HK$15,000 subsidy cap.
For example, for a HK$10,000 BIM course, you would only need to pay about HK$3,000.

2.Are my company and I eligible for CITF funding?

Eligibility requirements:

For Individuals:

    • Must be a Hong Kong permanent resident
    • Must have relevant background or experience

For Companies:

    • Must be registered in Hong Kong
    • Must be non-governmental and non-subsidized organizations
The application process will be handled through your employer

3.How far in advance should I register for EVERBIM courses to apply for CITF funding?

You can apply and submit course CITF reference numbers at:

https://www.citf.cic.hk/?route=procedure&lang=1

Registration timeframes:

    • Regular courses: at least 30 days in advance
    • Customized courses: at least 8 weeks in advance

Approval timeline:

    • Most of our courses are on the pre-approved list, requiring about 30 calendar days for approval
    • Non-pre-approved courses require 60 calendar days
Therefore, we recommend choosing courses with CITF reference numbers for assured quality and faster approval.

4.How can I ensure my CITF funding application is successful?

To increase your chances of approval, you should:

    • Choose CITF-approved training courses
    • Communicate early with your employer to ensure timely submission
    • Prepare relevant background information and experience proof
    • Follow the application timeline and allow sufficient processing time
